God Shapes Us Through Pain

Patrick Morley is fantastic author whose works have spanned decades. Morley has been responsible for creating conversations within men since 1989. This book reminds us that God stretches and shapes us through pain, circumstance, and difficulty. Men are made by God and are refined by fire.

No one likes the shaping process. It's tiresome, painful, and uncomfortable. Morley reminds us that God shapes us through circumstances into the men He's designed us to be. One critique: there aren't practical steps for teaching the next generation.

As a man, a father, and a pastor, anytime we have the opportunity to push the conversation toward being a practical and Godly example for the next generation, we should do so. This book is a great self-motivator and an introspective read; our job is not merely to look inwardly, but to focus on spreading the gospel to those around us. This happens effectively when we empower the next generation for the trials and circumstances that come our way. Introspection can lead to instruction.

This book is a great read for any man who is struggling with a habitual sin, difficult circumstance, or relationship issues. If you have problems expressing your emotions, this book is for you. These men of God cried out when situations were difficult and God heard them, helped them, and sent them people to help. God shapes us through our pain, so if you want to grow, this is the book for you!
